STK Scalable Network Modeling Interface

STK Scalable Network Modeling Interface (SNMI) links STK’s physics-based mission environment—platform trajectories, pointing, terrain, and RF conditions—with external network simulation or emulation tools. It enables time‑synchronized co-simulation so that mobility and link dynamics in STK drive the network topology and performance, while protocol behavior and traffic from the network side feed back into the scenario. The result is a unified, scalable workflow for evaluating communications performance under realistic, rapidly changing conditions.

Key capabilities:

  • Connects STK scenarios to third-party network simulators/emulators through an open, scalable interface
  • Time-coordinated event exchange for closed-loop co-simulation
  • Supports large, dynamic networks across space, air, ground, and maritime domains
  • Shares node and link state, antenna characteristics, frequency bands, and access/constraints from STK
  • Assesses connectivity, latency, throughput, and resilience under realistic mobility and RF effects
  • Provides 2D/3D visualization and data logging for post-processing and reporting
  • Offers scripting and APIs for automation and custom adapter development

Typical uses:

  • Satellite and aerial relay architectures
  • Tactical MANETs and beyond-line-of-sight communications
  • Constellation and multi-domain communications studies
  • What-if analysis, capability assessment, and training

Benefits:

  • Single source of scenario truth across physics and network layers
  • Faster iteration with reduced integration effort
  • Scales from quick studies to large campaign analyses
